Will this work in my switch?

This one is Cisco IOS / NX-OS coded. Optics and DAC carry vendor EEPROM, and a switch that does not recognise the coding will usually disable the port rather than negotiate a lower speed. Tell us the switch model and we will supply it coded correctly.

How far will 10G SFP+ SR 850nm reach?

Up to 300m over Multimode OM3. That is the specified maximum on clean fibre with in-spec connectors; a run with several patch panels in it should be planned shorter. The connector is SFP+. Send us the distance and the fibre type and we will confirm the right optic.
