Will this work in my switch?

This one is Arista EOS coded. Optics and DAC carry vendor EEPROM, and a switch that does not recognise the coding will usually disable the port rather than negotiate a lower speed. Tell us the switch model and we will supply it coded correctly.

How far will 1G SFP SX 850nm reach?

Up to 550m over Multimode OM2. That is the specified maximum on clean fibre with in-spec connectors; a run with several patch panels in it should be planned shorter. The connector is SFP. Send us the distance and the fibre type and we will confirm the right optic.
