Overview

Synology Enterprise NAS gives organizations a single, dependable home for their files, with built-in protection, snapshots, and backup that keep data safe and accessible. Nexus Compute specifies and sources the right Synology configuration so your team gets centralized storage that simply works, without managing complex infrastructure. The specification questions are less about total capacity than most buyers expect. How much of the data is actually active decides how much cache or flash is worth fitting; how many people write at once decides the network and the drive count; and how long you keep snapshots decides how much free space the volume needs to hold beyond the data itself, because a snapshot retains every block a change would otherwise have released. We also size for rebuild: a RAID array with very large drives spends a long time rebuilding after a failure, and the protection level has to be chosen so a second failure during that window is survivable rather than catastrophic. For an AI or research team this is the right home for datasets, results, and archives, but it is not the parallel storage that keeps a multi-node training cluster fed, which is specified with the cluster itself alongside the systems at /products/gpu-servers.
