Nexus Compute designs and sources Fortinet security solutions sized to your throughput, inspection, and compliance requirements. Sizing is the whole job here. A firewall datasheet carries several throughput figures for the same appliance, and they differ by a wide margin depending on which inspection is enabled: plain forwarding, threat inspection, and full inspection of encrypted traffic are three different workloads on the same box. Because most traffic is now encrypted, the number that matters for almost every buyer is the one measured with decryption on. We size against your real peak traffic, the share of it you intend to decrypt, and the feature set you actually plan to run, then check the result against where you expect to be in three years so the appliance is not replaced early. Where the firewall also terminates site-to-site links or provides remote access, that load is counted too.
