DGX Station A100 puts four A100 SXM4 GPUs with NVLink into a desk-side, refrigerant-cooled chassis that runs on a standard office power outlet. It exists for teams that need data-center-class GPU memory and interconnect but have no rack, no raised floor and no facility cooling — a research group, a small AI team, or a department piloting on-premises work before committing to a cluster.

Does it really run in an office?
Yes — that is the reason it exists. It is refrigerant-cooled rather than air-cooled at rack density, runs from a standard power outlet, and is quiet enough to sit beside a desk. It is the alternative to renting rack space for a team that needs four NVLink-connected data-center GPUs and does not have a data center.
How does this differ from a multi-GPU workstation?
The GPUs are SXM modules connected by NVLink rather than PCIe cards, so jobs that span GPUs get far more bandwidth between them, and it uses data-center A100 parts with MIG partitioning. A workstation with several RTX cards is cheaper and better for single-GPU work; this is for work that spans GPUs or needs the memory.
How is DGX quoted and delivered?
As a configured system rather than a boxed part. We confirm the exact platform revision, the networking and storage around it, rack power and cooling requirements, and the support term, then issue an itemised quote. Current availability and lead time are stated on that quote — accelerator allocation moves, and any figure published on a web page would be wrong for most buyers by the time they read it.
Should I buy DGX or an HGX system from Dell, Supermicro or HPE?
The GPUs and the NVLink fabric are the same silicon either way. DGX gives you one vendor accountable for the whole stack including the software environment, and is the designed unit if you are heading toward SuperPOD. An HGX system from a server vendor gives you your existing management tooling, support relationship and configuration choices. If your operations are already standardised on Dell or HPE, that consistency is frequently worth more than it looks on a spreadsheet. We supply both and will tell you which fits.
