Will this work in my switch?

This one is Arista EOS coded. Optics and DAC carry vendor EEPROM, and a switch that does not recognise the coding will usually disable the port rather than negotiate a lower speed. Tell us the switch model and we will supply it coded correctly.

Which length do I need?

This is the 0.5m variant with QSFP-DD ends at 400Gb/s. Passive copper is limited to in-rack runs; past about 5m at high speeds you want active optical instead. Measure the routed path rather than the straight-line distance — cable management arms and side channels add more than people expect. We stock the range and can supply a mixed set.
