64GB DDR5 RDIMM Price in 2026: What Buyers Are Paying and Why

Reported 64GB DDR5 RDIMM prices ran from about $1,500 to nearly $3,000 in mid-2026, depending on speed and source. Here is how to buy one without overpaying.

A 64GB DDR5 RDIMM cost somewhere between about $1,500 and $3,000 in mid-2026, depending on speed, brand and where you bought it. That is several times what the same module cost in 2025. The figures below are reported market prices from third parties, not our prices, and they move quickly. What you can control is whether you buy the right module, at the right speed, from a source you can trust, and how much exposure you take to the next price change.

How much does a 64GB DDR5 RDIMM cost in 2026?

Reported prices vary widely by channel. On May 1, 2026, ServeTheHome recorded the lowest eBay listings with at least 24 units available at $1,488 for a 64GB DDR5-4800 RDIMM and $1,990 for a 64GB DDR5-6400 RDIMM, and noted that DDR5-6400 modules had gone from about $1,500 to close to $2,000 within a few weeks (ServeTheHome). Distributor Fusion Worldwide reported 64GB DDR5 RDIMM pricing of $2,841 for 5600 MT/s and $2,972 for 6400 MT/s by June 2026, against the mid-$300 range in September 2025 (Fusion Worldwide). The gap reflects different sources: marketplace listings without manufacturer warranty on one side, new distributor stock on the other. Treat the range as a guide as of mid-2026, and expect quotes since then to sit at or above it.

Why has the 64GB module been hit so hard?

The whole DRAM market is short, but 64GB RDIMMs carry extra pressure. TrendForce reports that server buyers are moving toward 32GB and 64GB modules rather than 96GB and 128GB, which concentrates demand on those sizes, while total RDIMM bit supply grows only 15–20% in 2026 (TrendForce). The module has also become very profitable for suppliers: TrendForce says HBM profitability fell below that of DDR5 64GB RDIMMs in Q1 2026 (TrendForce). With contract prices for conventional DRAM still forecast to rise 10–15% in Q4 2026 (TrendForce), there is no near-term reason for 64GB pricing to fall. Our guide on when server RAM prices will drop covers the longer outlook.

Does speed (4800, 5600 or 6400) change the price?

Yes. In ServeTheHome's May sample, the DDR5-6400 module cost about a third more than the DDR5-4800 one. A faster RDIMM will run at the slower speed in an older server, but you pay for bandwidth the platform cannot use. Buy the speed your processor and DIMM population actually support:

  • 4th Gen Xeon Scalable (Sapphire Rapids): DDR5-4800. 5th Gen Xeon Scalable (Emerald Rapids) supports DDR5-5600 on top SKUs at one DIMM per channel, but ServeTheHome counted fewer than 22% of SKUs at that speed (ServeTheHome).
  • Xeon 6900P: up to 12 channels of DDR5-6400 (Phoronix). Xeon 6700P and 6500P also list DDR5-6400 RDIMM support at one DIMM per channel.
  • AMD EPYC 9005 (Turin): 12 channels at up to DDR5-6400 at one DIMM per channel (AMD datasheet). The previous EPYC 9004 (Genoa) generation runs DDR5-4800.
  • Two DIMMs per channel lowers the supported speed on most platforms, so a fully populated 2DPC server rarely needs the fastest modules.

Does rank matter when buying 64GB RDIMMs?

It does. The mainstream 64GB DDR5 RDIMMs on our site are dual-rank x4 (2Rx4) parts, for example the Micron MTC40F2046S1RC56BD2, the Samsung M321R8GA0PB0 and the Kingston KSM56R46BD4-64HA, all DDR5-5600. When you add modules to an existing server, match the rank, organization and speed of what is installed and follow the manufacturer's population rules. Mixing ranks or module types can lower speed or stop the system from training memory at boot. Our guides to RDIMM vs LRDIMM vs UDIMM and DIMMs per channel go into detail.

Should you buy OEM-branded or manufacturer part numbers?

Dell, HPE and Lenovo sell memory under their own part numbers, usually built on modules from the major DRAM makers. OEM-branded parts are the simplest route if your support contract or internal policy requires them. Manufacturer part numbers that appear on your server's qualified memory list are often a valid alternative and widen the pool of available stock, which matters in a shortage. Check the server vendor's documentation and your support terms before you switch. Our explainer on OEM vs manufacturer part numbers shows how to map one to the other.

How long are memory quotes valid right now?

Shorter than you are used to. TrendForce noted in July that memory suppliers may keep revising quotations upward through the quarter (TrendForce), and distributors pass that on with short validity windows. Ask for the validity date in writing, line up purchase order approval before you request final pricing, and avoid long internal sign-off chains between quote and order. A quote that expires during approval usually comes back higher.

How do you avoid counterfeit or relabeled 64GB modules?

High prices attract relabeled and grey-market memory. The spot market itself shows why care is needed: on October 2, 2026, TrendForce listed branded DDR5 16Gb chips at an average of $58.00 and lower-grade eTT chips at $26.10 (TrendForce). Modules built from lower-grade silicon can look identical on the outside.

  • Be wary of offers far below the market range above, especially with no manufacturer warranty.
  • Check that the label part number, the SPD data read by the BIOS and the manufacturer's datasheet all agree.
  • Buy new, sealed modules through authorized distribution, and keep the paperwork.
  • Read our guide on how to spot counterfeit SSDs and server memory before buying from an unfamiliar seller.

How can you spend less on 64GB DDR5 memory?

  • Size to measured use. Do not buy 1TB per host because the last refresh did.
  • Populate every channel once before adding a second DIMM per channel. Bandwidth comes from channels, and 1DPC keeps the highest speed.
  • Compare 32GB, 64GB and 96GB modules on price per GB for the capacity you need, not on habit.
  • Approve two or three manufacturers for each platform so you can take whichever is available.
  • Buy memory with the server rather than later, and split large purchases over several orders.

Should you buy 64GB RDIMMs now or wait for prices to fall?

For most buyers, waiting is the riskier choice. Micron's DRAM prices rose in the high-teens percentage range in its fiscal Q4 2026 alone, and the company expects supply to be much tighter in 2027 and 2028 than in 2026 (Micron prepared remarks). TrendForce did report softer prices for some DDR5 chips in the spot market in September (TrendForce), but server modules follow contract prices, which were still forecast to rise in Q4. If the servers are needed within the year, buy the memory you need with them and keep the option to add more later by leaving channels or slots free where the platform allows. If the project can genuinely wait, revisit pricing each quarter rather than committing to a date.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a 64GB DDR5 RDIMM in 2026?

Reported prices in mid-2026 ranged from about $1,488 for a DDR5-4800 module on eBay in May to roughly $2,972 for DDR5-6400 from a distributor in June. Prices depend on speed, brand and channel, and contract prices were still rising in late 2026, so get a current written quote.

Is DDR5-6400 worth paying extra for?

DDR5-6400 is worth paying extra for only if your platform runs it. Xeon 6 and AMD EPYC 9005 servers support DDR5-6400 at one DIMM per channel, while Sapphire Rapids and EPYC 9004 run DDR5-4800. A faster module works in an older server but runs at the slower speed, so you pay for nothing.

Can I mix 64GB RDIMMs from different brands?

It often works, but it is safest to match rank, organization and speed and to use part numbers on your server's qualified memory list. Mixing ranks or types can reduce memory speed or cause boot errors. For production systems, keep each server on one part number where possible.

Why did 64GB server memory prices rise so much?

DRAM makers have moved capacity to HBM for AI accelerators, RDIMM supply is growing more slowly than server shipments, and many buyers have moved down from 96GB and 128GB modules to 64GB, concentrating demand. TrendForce reported server DRAM contract prices rising every quarter of 2026.

Does Nexus Compute sell used 64GB RDIMMs?

No. Nexus Compute supplies new memory only, sourced through authorized distribution with the full manufacturer warranty. You can request a quote and receive pricing within 48 business hours.
